Peptide Storage & Reconstitution: Keeping Research Compounds Stable
Practical guidance on lyophilized peptide handling, storage temperatures and reconstitution.

Lyophilized vs. in solution
Peptides ship as lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder because the dry state is far more stable than solution. Reconstitute only the amount you need for a given experiment.
Storage temperatures
- Short term (weeks): 2–8°C, dry, protected from light
- Long term: −20°C, desiccated
- Very sensitive peptides: −80°C if specified
Avoid freeze–thaw cycles
Repeated freezing and thawing accelerates degradation. Aliquot reconstituted peptide into single-use portions before freezing.
Reconstitution basics
- Choose a solvent by peptide properties — sterile water, bacteriostatic water, or dilute acetic acid / DMSO for poorly soluble sequences.
- Calculate concentration from the vial mass and peptide weight.
- Swirl gently; avoid vigorous shaking that can stress the chain.
Stability after reconstitution
Reconstituted peptides are best used within days at 4°C, or stored frozen in aliquots. Always refer to the specific COA and, when in doubt, keep colder rather than warmer.

These are handling guidelines for research materials. All PepNova peptides are for research and animal use only.
